What's this event all about?

It's an immersive Musical Theatre Competition & Bootcamp held at a scenic arts retreat in Kashmir! You'll collaborate with fellow creatives to devise, write, compose (potentially), choreograph, and perform an original 20-minute musical – all from scratch in just one week!

What does "make a musical theatre right from scratch" mean?

You'll be part of a team that will brainstorm an initial idea, develop a story, write the script and lyrics, create music (potentially), choreograph dance sequences, design basic staging, and rehearse to present a brand-new, short musical.

How will the spirit of Ladishah be incorporated?

Your original musical will be encouraged to weave in elements of Ladishah, a traditional Kashmiri performing art known for its humor, satire, social commentary, and often a blend of music and spoken word.

What is the language of instruction during the bootcamp?

The primary language of instruction will be English.

Will we be working in teams?

Yes, this bootcamp is heavily focused on collaboration. You'll be working in teams with other participants to bring your musical to life. Team assignments might be done randomly.

Do I need to have experience in all aspects of musical theatre?

Not at all! The bootcamp is designed to foster collaboration. You can contribute based on your strengths and learn from others in areas where you have less experience. A willingness to learn and participate is key.

Will there be instructors guiding us?

Yes, experienced facilitators with backgrounds in musical theatre, playwriting, music, and choreography will guide the process, provide feedback, and offer support throughout the week. Their profiles will be shared on our website & social media closer to the date.

Do I need to bring anything specific?

Comfortable clothing and shoes for movement are recommended. Bring any costumes or digital devices you like to work with. Specific suggestions might be provided closer to the event.
