Jewellery Designing

Students will conceptualize and craft a collection of up to five jewellery sets, from mood boards to prototypes, culminating in a showcase of their designs at the retreat, with mandatory pieces ensuring a comprehensive collection.

The program explores themes central to Kashmiri artistry: the region’s stunning natural scenery, its intricate traditional crafts, the enduring influence of Mughal design, and its exquisite embroidery traditions.

What's this event all about?

Aspiring and emerging jewellery designers, craft enthusiasts, artists with a passion for adornment, and anyone eager to learn the art of jewellery making and design are welcome!

What will we be doing?

You'll be guided through the process of designing and creating a collection of up to five jewellery sets from initial concept and mood boards to the creation of prototypes.

What is the language of instruction during the bootcamp?

The primary language of instruction will be English.

What are "mandatory pieces"?

While you have the freedom to design up to five sets, incorporating a variety of jewellery types from the provided list (Necklaces, Jhumkas, Dejharoo, etc.) is mandatory to ensure a comprehensive collection showcasing different skills. Specific requirements regarding mandatory pieces will be outlined during the bootcamp.

Who will be our instructors?

We've invited experienced jewellery designers, traditional Kashmiri artisans, and design educators to guide you through the bootcamp and share their expertise. Their profiles will be shared on our website & social media closer to the date.

Do I need to bring my own tools and materials?

No, you don't need to worry about bringing your own tools and materials! Everything you'll need to design and create your jewellery collection during the bootcamp will be provided for you at the arts retreat. We've got you covered with the essentials!

Will we receive feedback on our designs and prototypes?

Absolutely! Instructors will provide regular feedback and guidance on your designs and prototypes throughout the bootcamp. There will also be opportunities for peer critique.
